Jeannie is a nutrition therapist who specializes in counseling for eating, body image and weight issues and is an expert in the treatment of eating disorders. She is licensed to work in the state of Florida as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) and she is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), the national credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration/Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 1994. Her private practice offices are in Lake Worth and West Palm Beach.
In addition, Jeannie is an Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC), Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), and recently worked in a Civil Service position at an outpatient addiction treatment center, where she handled admissions until July 2017. Prior she was a Primary Counselor in a residential facility for adult women in recovery from alcohol and drug addictions, and performed on-call work for its Mother and Child program. Jeannie continued on call work for both residential programs until July 2017, when she relocated to Florida.
She has been in private practice since 1996, specializing in nutrition therapy for patients with eating disorders, obesity and their related complications. She also works with patients with diagnoses in many other therapeutic areas: In addition to her private practice, Jeannie is also employed as a Clinical Dietitian at a major medical center in Palm Beach County, where her work is focused on the Oncology, Psych & Psych/Med, and Orthopedics units.
From 1999 to 2013, Jeannie worked part-time at the Renfrew Centers of New York, New Jersey and Long Island (LI closed in 2000), which she balanced with her private practice. At Renfrew she worked with patients in three levels of care: Partial Hospitalization (Day Treatment Program), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient (OP). Prior to joining Renfrew, she worked at the Program for Managing Eating Disorders.
Within her private practice in New York, Jeannie led a free eating disorders support group, a free recovery support group, and therapeutic meals groups. She also consulted for Eating Disorders Associates from 2010-2017. Her secondary specialty is performance/sports nutrition, which was honed consulting for The Juilliard School.
In 2016 Jeannie completed 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, making her eligible for the RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) credential by Yoga Alliance. In addition, she completed training and is eligible for both Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) and Certified Recovery Coach (CARC) credentials.
Jeannie is also an experienced educator, with a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from Hunter College, City University of New York and has taught nutrition courses to graduate and undergraduate nutrition majors at C.W. Post/Long Island University and New York Institute of Technology. In addition, Jeannie is trained in the evidence-based practices of Trauma-focused CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and Seeking Safety Therapy for the Integrated Treatment of SUD and PTSD.
Finally, Jeannie is extensively published as a writer. As a medical writer she authored a variety of publications for BMS, Novartis, Pharmacia, Sanofi-Aventis, Schering-Plough and various peer-reviewed medical journals. As a freelance writer Jeannie authored health and nutrition articles (including menu design) for Weight Watchers International, Weight Watchers Publishing, Distinction Magazine, Energy Times Magazine, Natural Digest Magazine, WeightWatchers.com, Examiner.com, FitDay.com, DietSmart.com, BettyConfidential.com, and various newspapers.
